Trip to Machu Picchu

I awoke early, the sun just peeking over the horizon and casting a pink and orange glow across the sky. I hastily threw on some clothes and grabbed my camera before heading outside. I wanted to get to Machu Picchu early to avoid the crowds and to get some good photos.

I had hired a guide the day before, so I met him outside my hotel and we set off. The walk to Machu Picchu is mostly uphill, but it is not too strenuous. Along the way, my guide pointed out different plants and animals and told me stories about the Inca people.

We arrived at Machu Picchu around mid-morning. I was immediately struck by its beauty. The ancient ruins are nestled in the mountains, surrounded by lush vegetation. I spent the next few hours exploring the site, taking pictures and marveling at the engineering feats of the Inca people.

After lunch, we took a hike to a nearby mountain peak. The views from up there were incredible. I could see for miles in every direction. The mountains, the river, the ruins of Machu Picchu—it was all so breathtaking.

As the sun began to set, we made our way back down the mountain. I was tired but happy from my day of exploring. Machu Picchu is truly a magical place, and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to visit it.
